L Spot's Monthly Women's Mixer
Wednesday, May 14th from 6-8pm at Miro's Restaurant  
Join a diverse and fun group of women for our next monthly mixer. Come to socialize, chat with old friends and make some new ones. Bring your business cards and flyers for the business info table if you want to network. There will be music by Deejay Tyler Murray for your listening pleasure; light appetizers and special drink prices will be provided. Cost is $10 at the door; as always, 70% of proceeds go to a local charity or group. Proceeds this month will go to the Golden Rainbow Senior Center. The mixers are primarily for lesbian women, but everyone is welcome so bring your friends! Miros is located at 1555 S. Palm Canyon Drive in the SteinMart shopping center in Palm Springs. 760-323-5199
Our April mixer at Mixie's had a nice crowd of around 90 women, with good music and fun conversations. We raised $660 for Orphan Pet Oasis - thank you to everyone who attended, and to Mixies for hosting! Check out our L Spot Photo Album for event photos.

Palm Springs Public Library Presents Author Cheryl Houk
Tuesday, May 13th, 2008 at 6:30 p.m.
In a welcome addition to the program schedule and presented by Polimedia, author and leader in the drug and alcohol recovery movement Cheryl Houk will appear at the Palm Springs Public Library. She will be discussing her book “What Are You Thinking: Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life”. The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. As the former Executive Director of Stepping Stone, San Diego’s only GLBT recovery facility, Houk has worked for over two decades in the drug and alcohol recovery field. Upon her retirement a few years ago from Stepping Stone, she has focused her energies toward motivating and mentoring others and has become a well-known speaker at conferences and workshops.

Hunters - "Pink" Ladies Night

Old Lesbians Organizing for Change (OLOC) 
Coachella Valley Chapter forming as of May 2008 - We are a national network of old lesbians over age 60 working to confront ageism in our communities and our country. We use education and public discourse as our primary tools. Our national organization is directed by a Steering Committee that works to form and support local groups who will work in their own communities. We hold biennial National Gatherings allowing us to come together to share experiences and ideas and recharge our energies for the tasks at hand.
